Creating alerts in FotoWeb Desktop for iPhone
Alerts are notifications of files that have been added to an archive. They are created by first performing a search and then saving that search as an alert. To check the status of your alerts, tap Alerts on the main screen in the application.
To create an alert, perform a search from the main screen. When the list of archives with the search result is displayed, tap on the action icon in the lower left corner and tap Save as alert. You can now optionally modify the search string and set the frequency of the alerts, i.e. how often you would like the alert to refresh. Setting the alert frequency to “As it happens” implies that the alert will update every five minutes.

Once FotoWeb Desktop for iPhone has been initialized and configured for the first time, it will store the server host name you specified so you won’t have to type it again the next time you connect.

Changing the logo in the iPhone app
By changing the image file located at %appdata%\FotoWare\FotoWeb\Site Settings\SITE\Documents\rsrc\iPhoneLogo.png you will change the logo of the iPhone app to your customer’s logo. The file used must be a .PNG file, of exactly 550×88 pixels. Also, keep in mind that it may take as long as four hours from first login after the change has been made before the new logo is available.

The FotoWeb Office Plugin supports placing of multiple placeholder boxes in PowerPoint
When creating a layout in Powerpoint, pay attention to the sequence in which you place placeholders. The Office Plugin will place images in picture placeholders first, in the order they were placed in the document.
Second, it will place images in Content placeholders, again, in the order they were placed in the document. Naturally, if you select a placeholder in the layout, the first image you select will be placed into it.
To place multiple images in the presentation, double-click each image you want to insert, in the order you want them inserted. When placing an image in a Picture placeholder, the image will be centred and adapted to the placeholder’s width.
When placing an image in a Content placeholder, the whole image will be visible, and the height and width of the placeholder will be adjusted to fit the image and its proportions.

Changing where FotoWeb desktop is downloaded from.
By default, FotoWeb directs users to download the FotoWeb Desktop installer files from FotoWares servers. If you, as an administrator, should want to control exactly what version is made available to your users, you need to make a few changes.
Before you start, make a backup of FWDTInstaller.fwx, in case things should go wrong.
You will first need to download the installers for both Windows and Mac OS, and make these available on a server, using HTTP. The FotoWeb Desktop installers can be found on the FotoWare Update Center.
Then, find the file called FWDTInstaller.fwx. It is located in the Documents folder of the FotoWeb site. Open it in Notepad, or your editor of choice. Modify the URLs in the highlighted lines of the file, then save your changes.
Please note that you will need to make sure that the version of FotoWeb Desktop you make available is compatible with your version of FotoWeb.
