Last week, I showed you how to manage login items in Windows 8 and 10, and the week before that how to do so on Windows 7 and previous versions. This can be useful knowledge for Mac OS X, too. Here’s how: (more…)

Eight years, six months and five hundred posts later
Post number 500 to the blog went by without me noticing it, but I feel it’s worth making note of, as I did when I passed four hundred posts back in October of 2014. For the most part, I’ve been able to keep up a weekly post schedule since then, a fact of which I am fairly proud. It’s been a fun journey for me.

Manage login items in Windows 7
It’s always a good idea to keep track of login items – i.e. what applications are being automatically opened when you log in. In Windows 7 (and, if memory serves, on previous versions of Microsoft Windows), this is done through the MS Config tool. Here’s how: (more…)

New theme
For some time, I’ve been unhappy with the theme I have been using, and started looking for something that does not actively remove focus from the content. This is the result. The theme is called “Alchem”, and I’m very happy with how it looks. In particular, I like how it helps me differentiate between views, as well as the functionality it brings to the table, such as infinite scroll, and related posts.

Stop Inbox redirecting GMail
A while ago, I went back to using Inbox by GMail as my primary platform for email. After a lot of discussion, dreaming, and looking for small change in the couch, we landed on ordering a Tesla Model S. This is my thoughts on range after driving it for 2500 kilometers, in conditions from sunny +10 degrees centigrade to snowy -15 degrees centigrade.

Last year, my wife and I decided it was time to swap out our old car with a newer one. After a lot of discussion, dreaming, and looking for small change in the couch, we landed on ordering a Tesla Model S. This is my review of the car after having driven it for 2500 kilometers.

Fix iPhone call failed issue
Some time ago, I found my iPhone started to claim that a call had failed, when the call had in fact been terminated normally. This got a bit annoying, but luckily, there’s a simple fix. Here’s how I fixed it: (more…)

Change author name and initials in Word
A while back, a user called in, asking me how she could change the name and initials that Word used when filling in Author and when showing who had made a comment. Not having had to do that for some time, I quickly researched it, finding it was simple enough to do. In order to avoid having to research it in the future, here’s how: (more…)
