About two months ago, I was talking to a friend about the launch of iPhone 7, when I mentioned that I found it odd that they still hadn’t made text messaging work seamlessly on a Mac for iPhone users. My friend was somewhat nonplussed, as it worked fine for him. Learning this, I decided to look into it a bit.
As it turns out, we were both somewhat right; while it did work fine for him, it didn’t for me, because it needs to be set up. The system is called SMS Relay, and as it turns out, it is not set up automatically. Instead, you have to manually activate it. Here’s how:
- Open Settings
- Go to Messages
- Go to Text Message Forwarding:
- Select the device or devices you want to enable
That should do the trick.
