Unmark videos as watched on YouTube

As I’ve made pretty clear, I’m – among many other things – a YouTuber. I have two YouTube channels, and watch a fair amount of content put out by other creators, too. Whenever I come across a video that seems interesting, I add it to my Watch Later queue, so that I can view it at my leisure. From time to time, I use the “Remove Watched” feature, to remove watched videos from my Watch Later queue in bulk, instead of having to remove them manually.

That’s all well and good – and works well for the most part. The exception is when I either inadvertently start a video (a video is marked as “Watched” as soon as playback is started), or when my feed has been played through for whatever reason (the last time that happened, it was because I’d left my headset on the keyboard). Whatever the reason, I have found the need to unmark videos as watched. That, as it turns out, is pretty simple. Here’s how:

  1. Log in to YouTube
  2. Open the menu on the left hand side
  3. Under “Library”, choose “History”
  4. Mouse-over the top right corner of videos you want to remove, and click on the “X” that appears

That should see you sorted.
